Major League Fishing has announced its 2025 dates for the Bass Pro Tournament and Lake Conroe will be the only Texas location on the tour.
According to information from the organization, stage one of the tour will be in Conroe from Jan. 27 to Feb. 2.
The Conroe City Council approved a $25,000 grant through its hotel occupancy tax fund Thursday to support the event. That fund comes through taxes collected from hotels in the city, not the city’s budget.
Sherry Morgan, Conroe Visitors Bureau manager, said her office earmarked $180,000 of the funds for marketing grants for events. She said the event will be televised on the Discovery Network and live-streamed through the organization’s website.
“They are in-kind going to highlight anything we want them to highlight about Conroe,” Morgan said. “So earned media value of a marketing piece far exceeds the initial investment of the $25,000.”
Morgan said this is not the first time the event has been on Lake Conroe.
“The last time they were in our community was in 2019,” Morgan said. “The anglers overwhelmingly requested to come back.”
The 2025 Bass Pro Tour season consists of seven stages. Following the event on Lake Conroe, the schedule continues through six more regular-season events. The seven-event regular season culminates with Redcrest 2026 which showcases the top anglers in the spring of 2026.
“We’re excited about the rollout of the Bass Pro Tour 2025 schedule and what the season will offer to our fans: a fun mixture of new and familiar destinations, with a variety of fishery types and styles,” Major League Fishing Executive Vice President and General Manager Kathy Fennel said in a release. “The schedule includes some of the best bass lakes and rivers in the country, which will create consistent excitement for our fans. We’re grateful to our fans, local partners and Bass Pro Tour anglers as we’re set up for an exciting 2025 season.”
