Oct 11, 2023SLOW. Water stained; 79 degrees; 1.42 feet below pool. Catfish are very good using Catfish Bubblegum, liver, worms, shad, and punch bait on baited ledges and humps 10-25 feet. Still lots of tiny fish mixed with good eaters. Drifting cutbait has produced pretty well on main lake points for the bigger blue catfish. While the cooler water is improving the bite we are not seeing tight schools of bait just yet. Get out there and be safe and courteous! Report by Brad Doyle, Bradley’s Guide Service. Bass are moving shallower, and it is a good time to target them. Medium-running crankbaits, Texas-rigged worms, and spinnerbaits are proving productive around laydowns, brush piles, and structures near creek channels in water depths ranging from 6-12 feet. Rock piles and riprap are also holding bass, with crankbaits and trick worms being effective in those areas. For those seeking larger fish, try using deep-running crankbaits at a slower stop and go pace around brush piles in deeper waters, typically between 16-20 feet. Report by Bryan Brawner, Lake Conroe Charters. Hybrids are in 13-23 feet of water with some in good schools. Target points or flats trolling with a pet spoon and a diver, jigging with MTPockets slabs, or using large minnows. Crappie bite has turned off after the wind started to blow out of the south again. Fish in 12-20 feet of water on or close to the structure, but be willing to keep moving to find those hotties. Thumps have been light but Lone Star Crappie Jigs, Stunna jigs are producing some bites and the bite has been hit-or-miss with smaller jigs and minnows. Always wear your life jacket.
