GOOD. Water stained; 90 degrees; 1.18 feet below pool. The weather is hot, and the eater catfish bites have been surprisingly steady despite the heat. There are a number of tiny catfish mixing in with the better size, but still pretty steady. Baits have been Catfish Bubblegum, liver, shrimp, worms, and punch bait. Best results have been from baiting areas where the thermocline meets the bottom between 20-25 feet of water. Report by Brad Doyle, Bradley’s Guide Service. Bass fishing remains fair in deep summer patterns, with early mornings before sunrise and late evenings being good times to fish. Using Carolina Rigs with darker worms and lizards has proven effective around brush in 9-12 feet of water. During the day, bass are biting well on deeper structures like small brush piles, laydowns, drop-offs, and roadbeds, in the 18-22 feet range. Deep-running crankbaits are producing results around brush piles, while drop shots, Carolina Rigs, and Jigs are catching fish with a slow presentation. Report by Bryan Brawner, Lake Conroe Charters. Hybrid bass are schooling, but most are scattered in 17-27 feet of water on points and flats. Trolling with a pet spoon and a diver, has had some success, or thumping and splashing while jigging with MTPockets slabs. Crappie are in 12-29 feet of water on or near structure with Lone Star Crappie Jigs and Stunna jigs, smaller jigs and pitching has had some success, as well as using a longer rod. Minnows have made a bigger impact on catching this past week. Finding a thermocline in 30-35 feet of water. Summer is here so please stay hydrated and always wear your life jacket.
