A former Willis ISD senior and his brother are accused of attacking a basketball coach in the Willis High School parking lot after a game, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
The 17-year-old student was withdrawn from the Montgomery County school district after the attack when it was discovered he did not have a valid address in school boundaries, Willis ISD officials said in a statement. The Chronicle is not naming the student because he is a minor.Â
During a basketball game between Willis and Conroe High on Dec. 5, the student was benched by his coach for behavior toward a player on the Conroe team, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. The student and his family appeared infuriated, the release states.Â
When the team returned to Willis High School around 9:50 p.m., the student and his family confronted the coach about his decision. The student and his brother, Jerrick Allen, 22, are accused of physically assaulting the coach, authorities said.Â

After the altercation, the coach had injuries to his head, neck, face and arms, the release states. The student is accused of punching the coach in the face. The sheriff’s office did not have further details on the severity of the coach’s injuries.Â
The coach could not be reached for comment.Â
In a written statement, Willis ISD officials said the incident is under investigation.Â

Both brothers were arrested and charged with assault on a public servant. The coach is considered a public servant because he was employed by a school district.Â
Both brothers were released on bond of $23,000 each.Â
In regards to the district’s decision to withdraw the student due to an invalid address, district spokesperson Jamie Fails said it is not uncommon for students and their families to move outside district boundaries during a school year. The district doesn’t check a student’s place of residence unless something prompts it, she said.Â
Jerrick Allen’s court date is set for Dec. 18 at the 359th District Court in Conroe, according to court documents.Â
