THE WOODLANDS, TX – Citing Congressman Dan Crenshaw’s lack of leadership on the border, the Second Amendment, and abandonment of Conservative values; State Representative Steve Toth, District 15, announced his candidacy for the March 2026 Republican Primary, directly challenging Crenshaw for his 2nd Congressional District seat. Over 500 Toth supporters attended a rally at Grace Woodlands Church on Tuesday evening, July 15th, along with Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough; Toth’s best friend in Austin, State Representative District 93, Nate Schatzline; Constable Precinct 4, Rowdy Hayden; and other elected officials and candidates. Former Congressman Tom Delay, District 22, was a special guest for the event, while local radio personality Kenny Webster warmed up the crowd. Toth fired up the crowd, ready to rid the second district of Crenshaw, who has been quite a disappointment for constituents who want a representative in Congress that reflects their Conservative values. Toth issued a press release early on July 15th, noting his intentions, which had been delayed for a short time due to the Guadalupe River Floods.

Toth has served five terms in the Texas House, and is unapologetically Conservative in his work in the House, at times campaigning against GOP representatives who openly supported Democrats in Austin undermining true progress in the Texas House. Toth made his decision to run against Crenshaw five months ago, due to the Congressman’s embarrassing statement on wanting to kill Tucker Carlson, and his decision to support Ukraine spending over securing the US border.

State Representative Nate Schatzline, who shares an apartment when in session at Austin, praised Toth for his Conservative leadership during his first session in The Texas Legislature. He spoke of the frustrations of the dozens of GOP representatives who have been working with Democrats that brought Dave Phelan, as speaker of the Texas House. Of which Montgomery County representatives, Will Metcalf, District 16; and Cecil Bell, District 3, are 2 of the 3 Montgomery County State Representatives who side with Phelan and The Democrats. Phelan has an Obama Era Parliamentarian on staff.

“I was pulled to the side by Steve in seeing Republicans abandon their principles because I was disillusioned at the sight,” said Schatzline. “He said, ‘You have a lot of years to fight, and you can’t let this fight take you out.’ Steve was in the battle with me every single day.”

In the Texas House of Representatives, Toth ranks consistently high amongst the top conservative members, and is vying to restore bold leadership to the 2nd Congressional District. Toth and his wife Babette reflected on his time in Austin, and came to the conclusion that his time in office wasn’t over.

Toth noted that Crenshaw promised to end business as usual in DC, that he would challenge the Democrats and champion conservative legislation. Instead, he joined Democrats in sending billions of dollars to Ukraine and has even called MAGA Republicans ‘terrorists..’

“The people of Congressional District 2 deserve an unwavering conservative,” said Toth. “One who will fight for our convictions and never bend the knee to the radical left. That’s why I’m running for Congress.”

State Representative State Toth has been a small businessman for over twenty years, as well as a pastor. In his time in the Texas Legislature, he has been a consistent voice for advancing the conservative movement in Texas, which has earned him recognition among key Republicans colleagues, and he earned President Trump’s endorsement during his 2022 and 2024 successful campaigns.

“He has done a lot for Veterans, and is a strong Conservative,” said supporter John Thompson. “And that’s what we need in Washington now.”

Other issues that Toth is concerned with is protecting children from the liberal gender ideology insurgence, which is slowly disappearing, but it needs to be stamped out completely. And he constantly stresses that faith, family, and freedom are American cornerstones. He’s vowed to put Texas families first, and wants to continue the fight in D.C.

“We were the first state in The Union to ban the teaching of Critical Race Theory, in a bill that State Senator Brandon Creighton and I put together,” said Toth. “We have since banned children mutilation surgery in Texas as well.”
