Little Shop of Horrors is a horror comedy rock musical about a lowly flower shop assistant, Seymour, who discovers a talking, man-eating plant. While quenching the plant’s thirst for blood and winning over the girl of his dreams, follow Seymour as he explores how far he will go for success.
The cast features Kolby Hughes and David McKnight as the meek floral assistant “Seymour Krelborn,” with Meredith Fisk and Sarah Wilkins playing Seymour’s secret love interest, “Audrey.”
Michelle Rice is the voice of the man-eating plant, “Audrey II.” Cricket Pepper is the financially struggling “Mr. Mushnik,” and Bill Shafer is the menacing “Orin Scrivello.”
The savvy street urchins “Crystal,” “Ronette,” and “Chiffon” are played by Christina Sato, Shananda Poulos, and Lauren Copeland. Rounding out the world of Skid Row are Mark Doreza, Ashley Pribble, Te’yana Taylor, Abbey Barthauer, and Colton Land.
“Our rendition includes our leads being double-cast, so every night’s show is fresh and unique!” said Stage Manager Lizzi Pineiro. “In this incredible cast, every person has their moment to shine and showcase their excellent vocals and lovable acting — all which are top-notch!”
The production runs from May 9 through 25 at The Owen Theatre, 225 Metcalf in downtown Conroe. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights and 2:30 p.m. for Sunday matinees. The Players Theatre Company began in 1967 as The Little Theatre of Conroe utilizing the Conroe High School stage and later a refurbished plumbing supply store at the corner of Galveston and Robertson Streets. After helping to restore the historic Crighton Theatre in 1979, the group produced shows there for nearly 30 years as The Crighton Players. In 2008, in a partnership with the City of Conroe, The Players Theatre Company was formed and moved to their current residence at The Owen Theatre.
