Stage Right Theatre Company announces auditions for the musical “West Side Story.”Â
Auditions are this Sunday and Monday at the Crighton Theatre in downtown Conroe at 234 N. Main. Auditions for female roles are Sunday and male roles audition Monday. Show dates are Feb. 9-25, 2024.
Stage Right welcomes all talented individuals with a passion for the arts to showcase their skills and be part of this production.
Stage Right is the resident theater company at the historic Crighton Theatre. As a certified 501c3 nonprofit, it is a volunteer theater company that delights local residents with six productions each year, funneling more than $100,000 per year toward the Crighton’s upkeep.
The group is in its 15th season in 2023-24. Currently “Clue” is on stage weekends through Nov. 5. The holiday show is “Christmas Belles” Dec. 1-17.Â
“West Side Story” is a reimagining of William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet,” set against the backdrop of the gritty streets of 1950s New York City. The show features breathtaking dance sequences and unforgettable songs that have captivated audiences for generations. It’s a story
of love, conflict, and the search for a better life – a story that continues to resonate with audiences worldwide.
Director Cricket Pepper is seeking fresh talent and looks forward to bringing the beloved musical to life. The creative team is seeking actors, dancers, and singers of all experience levels to audition.
The team is seeking performers for the iconic roles of Tony, Maria, Riff, Anita, Bernardo and many more. Audition time is 6:30Â p.m. both days.Â

Production Assistant Veronica Olivarez advises actors to prepare by preparing a own song choice in the same style as the show and range of the character you’re auditioning for (16-24 bars).
Please bring backing tracks cued up on a personal device (no a capella auditions). Prepare the provided dance audition choreography and wear comfortable clothing for the dance audition. Callbacks, if necessary, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 1.Â
