Splendora ISD officials unveiled designs for two elementary campuses part of a $221 million bond passed in November.
Two aging facilities are being replaced — Peach Creek Elementary, built in 1964, and Greenleaf Elementary, built in 1988.Â

Each elementary campus replacement project is expected to cost $43 million and have a student capacity of 1,000.
The new Peach Creek Elementary’s campus is south of the city along Tram Road and Greenleaf Elementary’s campus is in the Pinewood Trails subdivision, north of the city, said Karla Castillo, principal at Huckabee, an architecture and engineering firm.
“The board of trustees was one of our design teams that sat through countless meetings with us,” Castillo told board members during a meeting Monday. “I promise we’re almost done.”
Both campuses are slated to open for the 2025-26 school year.
A new junior high is also expected to open for the 2025-26 school year with a capacity of 1,250 students. The school will open in the Presswoods subdivision, near Splendora Junior High.Â

The district is expecting significant growth in the next 10 years as new housing subdivisions are built in the area, including developments across the street from its high school and junior high.
More than 5,000 students are enrolled, with district officials expecting that number to reach 8,000 students by 2026.
“Growth is not stopping,” Superintendent Jeff Burke told board members during the Monday meeting. “We are just monitoring and making sure that we can plan for it accordingly.”Â
The district anticipates having 14,000 students by 2031.Â
As of Aug. 21, the district had enrolled more than 400 students compared to last school year.Â
Officials plan to put together another bond package for 2025, Burke said.Â
