Did you know.

1. That more than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s?  

2. Between 2000 and 2019, deaths from Alzheimer’s have more than doubled and it is even greater now in 2023?

3.  One in three seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another dementia?

4.  Alzheimer’s kills more than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined?

5. More than 11 million Americans provide unpaid care for people with Alzheimer’s or other dementias?

6.  In 2023, Alzheimer’s and other dementias will cost the United States $345 billion and that this number is projected to rise to nearly $1 trillion in 2050?

These are horrible statistics. Alzheimer’s is destroying our families, our finances and our future!  

Because many people want to help fight this disease, a Walk to End Alzheimer’s event happened recently in The Woodlands with thousands of people either walking, sponsoring or somehow supporting this worthy cause.

Waterford Esates residents Marie and Dave Underdown joined dozens of our fellow Parrot Heads from the 5 O’Clock Phlock to not only sponsor a booth but to also support the many people who were walking in honor or memory of a loved one who suffers from this terrible disease.  
There were so many booths from so many organizations who showed up in support of the walkers.  

The grounds were festive with pin wheel flowers of different colors representing those who know someone with Alzheimer’s, or passed away from the disease, has the disease themselves or are just there to support the cause.  The pre-walk presentation was moving and then the walkers took off, with cheers from supporters all the way.  What a wonderful way to support such a wonderful cause!
