What a week.Â
Record rain fall, rising lake level, and so many flood warnings and watches from here to  in and around the Houston area happened last weekend. It is my sincerest wish that you and your families stayed safe and hopefully dry during this colossal rain event. If you experienced damages caused by the rains, I pray they were minor and repairs are swift to return normality to your home.
Due to the bleak weather forecast for last Sunday, the WSN had to cancel the Spring Festival for the second time. So much work was put into the planning for this popular family event. It is always such a disappointment when the weather does not cooperate. Linda Sustman and I were the committee chairs for the event and we had such a hard time making the decision to cancel. There weather forecast showed more thunderstorms during and after our scheduled event. They were wrong…again. Many thanks go to all the extra volunteers on standby and to the WSN Committee members that blocked out the time to make it a wonderful event. There is no plan to reschedule at this time.
It looks like the Conroe Symphony’s Kentucky Derby fund raiser was a huge success. Jon Forde posted so many awesome photos on the Conroe Symphony’s Facebook page.
Here a few words of thanks from Bill Thompson, CSO President: Saturday’s Kentucky Derby fundraiser organized by the Friends of the Symphony was a lot of fun! Thanks to everyone who was involved in planning the event and making it happen. Special kudos to Gaby Tryon, Diana White and the FOS leadership for all of their hard work. Â Thanks again to the FOS for all of their efforts in supporting the Conroe Symphony Orchestra!
Sunday May 12th is Mother’s Day. Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family or individual, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on different days in many parts of the world, most commonly in March or May.Â
I lost my dear mom in 1986. She was a middle school teacher for over 20 years. She was such a good influence to many students and certainly in the lives of her loving family.Â
Happy Mother’s Day to her and to all mothers everywhere!
