I headed out of town last week to celebrate my brother-in-law’s birthday. My sister and my good friend Bobbie have made a tradition of going to a casino in Louisiana in his honor. I would like to point out that even with free rooms this tradition can be a costly celebration for all involved. Should you be one of those folks who like to play in and around Lake Charles you might enjoy dining at Steam Boat Bills on I-10, and for a special evening of dining I would like to recommend Embers at L’Auberge. We, once again, had a marvelous time.

The WLGA hosted the Bradley Cup this past weekend. This is a two day net stroke play tournament. It is also a Walden Cup qualifier event. I would like to congratulate the winner of the event, Suzanne Walsh, way to go Suzanne!

The last day for the Friends of the Charles B. Stewart West Branch Library Spring Silent Auction Fundraiser will end at 5:00 PM on March 18th. There are some wonderful gift baskets, jewelry, golf, dining, handmade quilts, framed artwork, carved bowls and more to bid on. You don’t want to miss out on winning a wonderful item while also helping this great library.

The Walden Social Network (WSN) is gearing up to stuff what seems like a gazillion Easter Eggs in preparation of the annual egg hunting on Saturday morning March 30th at 10:00 AM sharp!

Today is St. Patrick’s Day and in keeping with the tradition of favorite wishes and/or toasts, I would like to share one of my favorite quotes:
“Imagine if we were all magical leprechauns, and every wish ever made on a four-leaf clover obliged us to help others obtain their wishes. Now imagine if people simply lived like this were true.” —Richelle E. Goodrich

Happy St. Patty’s Day everyone!
