Good morning Waldenites!

Jack & Patsy Chevrette started a wonderful tradition that the Walden Nine Hole group treasures dearly.  Their son John gave Jack a very fun and unique golf statue.  Jack decided to share it with the Walden Nine Holers and donated the lovely statue to them in 2009.  I am not sure “lovely” is the right adjective to describe dear Divoty but he is definitely a distinctive little dog.  It has been given each year to a special WLGA-9 Member who fully embraces and exemplifies the “Niner” spirit of “good sportsmanship” and “fun” both on and off the course. I want to congratulate the very deserving Walden Niner Patti Kling for winning this year’s Divoty Dog Award.

I am sorry that I had to miss a recent gathering at the home of Jim Cook. Jim and his friend and co-host Lorraine Counts shared good food, friendship, spirits and the display of his extensive, detailed and beautiful Christmas Village. I don’t know how many days it takes for Jim to set up the room but it always proves to be a wonderful way to start the Christmas season for his friends and family.  I am truly sorry that I had to miss this gathering.

An extremely thoughtful gentleman, Frank Minton, sent me a note thanking Brenda Badgett for her wonderful write up covering the Christmas festivities at the Walden Yacht Club on December 2nd.

I would really like to shine a spotlight on Frank. He and his wife Joyce have been residents of Walden for 19 years. Turns out Frank is a former Dodger baseball pitcher. He wanted me to pointed out that it was in the Minor Leagues. I instantly wanted to hear more. He was quick to point out that his baseball career was a wonderful time in his life BUT for him, his true calling was his love of ministry. He shared with me that he has a recently published book “Good News from the Dugout” available on Amazon. Being the avid reader that I am, I instantly downloaded it onto my Kindle.  I have just started reading about his life but I am already fascinated by his very inspiring story.

A little reminder – As we enter the season of giving, please donate to a charity of your choice.
