I would like to extend a welcome to the newest members of the Walden Community Improvement Association Board. The community elected Lachele Rivera and Todd Kiefer to serve on the 2024-2026 Board of Trustees. Welcome aboard! I would also like to thank the residents that voted during the election process.

It was a busy golf weekend for the WLGA with 24 members playing the Walden Cup. This is an event full of fun. It started Friday evening with the picking of team members, 12 on the Red Team and 12 on the Blue Team.  Sonia McFarlane hosted the Friday gathering at her beautiful golf course home and after the teams were set, everyone gathered around the green on hole #5 to have a putting contest – in the dark playing to a lite hole with a lite golf ball. I would like to point out that I am putting in the dark all the time. Blue Team won the contest. Thanks to Caroyln Ginandt for the planning and execution of the tournament. I don’t know how she did it but she did make the weather cooperate.  Drum roll please, congratulations go to the Red Team for winning this Ryder style tournament.

Wednesday was the Ace Day competition for both ladies’ groups. The WLGA will announce their winner at their awards banquet. The WLGA-9 announced their winners at the Ace of Aces luncheon hosted by Fran Copland and co-host Susan Holt at Fran’s beautiful lakeside home. They hosted a very large group of Niners. The food was outstanding and, as is usual, a fine time was had by all. Congratulations to the 2023 Ace of Aces – Cyndi Klorer – Net and Erin Williams – Gross. A member of the Niners suggested that this year we have a closest to the pin on all three par three holes. Congrats to the winners – Jean Smith #12, Janice Cottrell #14 and Rebecca Davis #17. They each received a whopping $19.00 for their efforts. Jeannine Dennis once again out did herself with the Aces prizes.

I wish each and every one of you a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. May you be blessed with family, friends and fun where ever you choose to celebrate the holiday. If you are traveling over the holiday or have folks traveling to you, may you all be safe.
