Here’s a big shout out to Linda Sustman. She recently was honored at a luncheon at Amore’s celebrating her birthday. I won’t say which birthday it was, but she can say what I say to my older sisters, “it doesn’t matter how old I get, you guys are still going to be older than me”. She did mention this to me once or twice during lunch. Bless her heart. A thank you goes to Janice Cottrell for planning all the festivities there and then following up lunch with cake and spirits at her and Barry’s beautiful lakeside home. Those joining in the celebrations were Fran Copland, Sara Gage, Rita Hinds, Susan Holt, me and Janice.
I was not able to attend, but I did see that a wonderful group of ladies from Walden Community Church recently got together and had a grand time kicking up their heels. Lorraine Counts, a regular Walden Follies Dancer, led the ladies in a lesson in line-dancing. The pictures spoke a thousand words on how much fun was had by all! The Walden Community Church is always offering so many fun venues for fellowship.
Reminders:
The Walden Follies will be hosting their Reunion on Friday, September 8th starting at 5:00, downstairs at the Yacht Club. There will be appetizers and a cash bar. They welcome all members and those folks interested in joining.
The Ladies Association will be hosting their luncheon on Friday September 8th. The program at this luncheon will feature NASA Astronaut, Shannon Walker. She will be sharing with the group her experiences in space travel. How many folks on earth can do this? It should be very interesting. It is suggested that attendees might want to wear your red, white and blue!
The Walden Blood Drive will be on October 7th but it is never too early to volunteer or request an appointment for blood donation. Contact email is WaldenBloodDrive@gmail.com.
If you are interested in running for the WCIA Board the sign-up process began August 15th and continues until 5pm on September 15th. You can obtain an application form and the submittal instructions at the administration office or online at waldenonlakeconroe.com. Those interested should be aware that this is an elected three-year position for the 2024-2026 term.
Wishing you all a safe and fun Labor Day.
