Monday was the Golfer’s Against Cancer Tournament hosted at Walden on Lake Conroe Golf Course. There was a wonderful turnout of players, volunteers, sponsors and supporters of this very worthy cause. I can not possibly name all the people that has made this event so successful for the past 20 years, for fear I would miss someone, but I can assure you that there are plenty. The tournament has raised over $2,000,000.00 prior to this year’s event and none of it could be possible without the continued support of the Club owner Dan McIntyre.
It was a net scramble this year with one team winner in the morning group and one team winner in the afternoon.
Congratulations to the 1st Place Winners:
Morning Group—Lisa Kintigh, Rebecca Davis, Wilma Goudie & Erin Williams coming in with a net 43.
Afternoon Group–Jerry Rinker, Tanner Rinker, William Dengering & JJ Emerson coming in with a net 46.
I am not “absolutely” sure but I do believe that this is the first time that an all women team came in first place at GAC-Walden. I am so proud of this group of Niners. I feel a little bit like a stage mother living vicariously through her talented children!
Our neighborhood is full of extremely thoughtful people that never think twice about helping one another. Sometimes it’s just a simple act of kindness or it can be a very difficult and time-consuming chore.
That being said, I would like to take a moment to extent a heartfelt thank you to a wonderful group of folks that went well beyond the call of duty to give a hand to one of our neighbors. Someone that needed help since their circumstances made it impossible for them to handle them on their own. It took a lot of team work, coordination of duties and a ton of folks just offering to lend a hand. Here is a spot light on the main contributors: Karen Herzik, Tracy Strelec, Jean Hamilton, Roy & Brenda Badgett, Linda & Scott Sustman, Vicki & Terry Sucher and Jim & Sharon Cason-Fenske. I know the folks that benefited from their hard work will be forever thankful to this group for stepping in and getting it done on their behalf.
I love Walden.
