I took a trip to the Hill Country this past week. My sister and her husband live in Johnson City and she had a little health issue that required hospitalization. She’s doing fine now and we feel blessed there was have such great medical services in her area. Once we got her back home, I was able to do a little nostalgic exploring in the area. I lunched at the Wimberly Café and shopped several of the shops on the square before heading back to Walden.

I had spent many a summer, in my youth, at my aunt and uncle’s place on the Blanco River. I went to San Marcos and visited the Texas State University campus which I attended back in the day that it was call Southwest Texas State University. My grandmother went to Southwest back when it was called Southwest Texas State Teachers College and was merely the building now referred to as Old Main. I can confirm for you that the campus has grown a bit.

I can also confirm that it is just at hot in the hill country as it is in Walden, maybe even a little hotter.

While I was away the WLGA and WLGA-9 were playing their Ace competitions. I would like to congratulate WLGA July Ace winner –
Cindy Facker
winning with a net 77 and the WLGA-9 July Ace winners –
Bette Garland
winning with a gross score of 59 and
Linda Sustman
winning with a net score of 40. Way to go ladies!

Sharon Richardson
hosted and
Jean Smith
co-hosted the WLGA-9 monthly luncheon at Sharon’s lovely lakeside home. I am told it was a very fun luncheon filled with great food and lively conversations. I wish I could have joined in the fun!

Monday, August 7, 2023 will be a fun day of golf as
