The week of the July 4 celebrations rocked! So many positive comments received about the festivities. I was under the weather and was not able to participate in any of the planned activities but I did see the photos on Facebook and got some wonderful calls confirming the success of the extended weekend. The staff and employees of our administration offices and facilities worked so hard to make this weekend one to remember and they all did an outstanding job.
The Parade looked fabulous with so many wonderfully decorated cars, golf carts, ATVs, bikes, floats and people! From the pictures I saw of the entries I am glad I didn’t have to be a judge selecting the trophy winners. I believe that all the entry participants, band members, scouts, singers and the wonderful folks lining the parade path, cheering everyone on, are winners.
I would like to give a very big
SHOUT-OUT
to the
WSN Committee. The planning of the parade starts very early in the year. There are so many details, contacts, and hard work put in before anyone even thinks about gathering at the Racquet Club on the morning of the Parade. So, remember to thank the Committee Members and their consistently drafted spouses for their labors.
The committee members and parade helping spouses are,
Roy & Brenda Badgett,
Peggy & Howard Catlett, Jon Forde, Ray & Paulie Geiselhart, Nick & Rita Hinds, Pete Livingston & Ginny D’Amico, Jud & Kathy Schleper, Carolyn Shulman, Scott & Linda Sustman and John & Gaby Tryon. I am also a committee member but I was not any help (think bump on a log) on the day of the parade.
The Monday before the parade,
Ray & Paulie Geiselhart
once again opened their home for the WSN group to decorate and store our float. As is usual they provided a wonderful array of food and drinks for the folks, making for a productive and fun evening.
I know there were many residents that offered and assisted in the mechanics of the parade, the staging and departure and its arrival. I would like to thank first time volunteer
Jim Fenske
and our returning volunteer
Don Mitchell
who has been volunteering for years.
I am now back and fit as a fiddle, well more like a second-hand fiddle, but I am back.
See you soon,
