To all the mothers Happy Mother’s Day! Mother’s Day is an annual holiday celebrated in the United States on the second Sunday in May.   Mother’s Day recognizes mothers for their contributions to their families and society.  It was established by Anna Jarvis through a service at Saint Andrew’s Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia, in 1908.

Congratulations to Mayor Lynn Scott, Councilman Joe Watson (Position 4), and Councilman Clint Fowler (Position 2 ) for winning their positions in the election on May 4. Thank you to Bill King and Marty Ellington for stepping up to run for the positions of Mayor and Councilman Position 4, respectively. The Willis Bond Election passed Proposition A and the other three Propositions B, C, D failed.

The Primary Runoff Election for Sheriff will be held May 28. Precinct 43 voters will vote on Election Day at Peet Junior High School off Longmire. The early voting days for that election will be May 20 – May 24. During Early Voting qualified voters can vote at any Early Voting location but on Election Day, May 28, must vote at their precinct voting location, which might not be your regular place where you normally vote. It is suggested that before you leave your home to vote for the Primary Runoff Election you go online for your precinct location. Precinct 43 will vote at Peet Junior High School (1895 Longmire) on Election Day, May 28 and at any Early Voting location.

The closest Early Voting lovation for Precinct 43 is the N Montgomery County Community Center at 600 Gerald Street in Willis.
