When it decided to rain, it did a great job, didn’t it!  We dare not complain about any high water after this long drought. Because of possible heavy rain, the PWGA canceled their Annual Party in Paradise on Thursday. Fortunately they had a rain date ready that will be held October 11.

Recently, the PWGA showed a true team effort to help Marianne Bergfield prepare to move by getting her home ready for a garage sale before she moves to be closer to her family. Marianne and her late husband, Bill, became active residents when they moved to Panorama from Houston many years ago. There were not many jobs that they didn’t get involved in. Bill was very active in Panorama city government and was a Director for the Panorama Country Club.  As a Lions Club Member, Bill worked hard in their projects, especially the Bingo Night. Both Marianne and Bill were very active in Panorama couples golf.  We will miss Marianne!

The Niners were affected by the rain as their White Elephant Tournament was rained out after five holes.  That didn’t stop them from enjoying a nice lunch and participating in their White Elephant gift exchange. After some “stealing” went on, they were able to enjoy a bite of Montgomery  Bakehouse Apple Cake, which had been one of the gifts.

Thanks go to Jeanie Jackson and Jane Cox for a fun event!  The Liberty Belles Republican Women will meet at the Clubhouse on Thursday, October 12, with registration and dinner beginning at 5:30 pm. Our guest speaker is Judge Claudia Laird.  Judge Laird has presided over Montgomery County Court at Law #2 between 2011 and 2023.  In 2023 County Court at Law Number Two converted to Montgomery County Statutory Probate Court Number One and she continues to preside as its honorable judge.  The statutory probate court will specialize in handling all cases involving probate, mental health, guardianship and eminent domain. If you would like to hear our eloquent speaker Judge Claudia Laird call Ruthie McGrath (713)557-7663 for seating reservations.

Panorama Ladies Association will be held Friday, October 13 at 10:30 am. The menu will be Chicken Fried Chicken and Cha Cha’s Boutique will present a style show for the members.  Tomorrow, Monday October 9, will be a meeting of the Texas Retired Teachers Association at The First Methodist Church – Willis. They will meet for refreshments and fellowship beginning at 9:30 am and have a card making project and will make plans to distribute signs and to get out the vote For Prop 9 on November 7 or during early voting. That is the proposal to give Texas Retired Teachers a cost of living increase since they haven’t had one since 2004.

Shred Day – October 21  9am – noon at City Hall.
