Events in Conroe coming up in March!

This week starts the 3-week run of “SpongeBob Musical hosted by The Players Theatre Company starting Friday, March 8 through Sunday, March 25. This production will make you laugh out loud and sing many familiar songs no matter what age you are. Tickets available at OwenTheatre.com

Auditions are Monday, March 18 for “The Rocky Horror Show” with The Players Theatre Company. The Rocky Horror Show is a humorous musical tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the 1930s through to the early 1960s. The musical tells the story of a newly engaged couple getting caught in a storm and coming to the home of a mad transvestite scientist, Dr Frank-N-Furter, unveiling his new creation, Rocky, a sort of Frankenstein-style monster. 

The Young Texas Artists Annual Concert and Awards Show is on Saturday, March 9 at the Crighton Theatre after the Bach, Beethoven, & BBQ Gala. There will be two finalists from each division (piano, strings, winds, brass, percussion, harp & guitar, and voice. The audience will help choose one of the awards. Young artists ages 20-32 who are Texas residents or are enrolled in a Texas college or music school compete to receive cash awards and career advancement services for mentoring and featured performances with Texas orchestras and other organizations. The following weekend the Greater Conroe Arts Festival will have a FREE festival on Saturday, March 16 from 10:00am-4:00pm at Founder’s Plaza Park. Free entertainment and interactive activities for the entire family. The festival includes a Fine Art Village, a Kids Art Village with hands on activities, a musical petting zoo, and a kid’s mural they can participate in adding to with their family. Learn to make pottery, paint, or be a part of the Quilt Walk There will be a raffle, art auction, live music, plein air artists, street chalk artists, photography contest, a vendor market and food trucks. www.GreaterConroeArtsAlliance.com

There will also be two times for the Film Festival as part of the GCAA. The morning AM show has five documentary viewings starting at 10:00am and the PM show starting at 4:00pm has six local film makers and their productions. Learn more at CrightonTheatre.org.
