One could make the case that whether you say you “appreciate” something or say that you’re “thankful” for something, you’re really saying exactly the same thing.  And, it would seem an easy argument to win.  I mean, just look those words up in Webster’s Dictionary if you doubt me.  But they’re not necessarily always the same in all situations, because there’s this thing called nuance.

For example, we can certainly appreciate sharing and enjoying our Thanksgiving meal with family and/or friends and/or loved ones.  We can also be thankful that we have those folks in our lives with whom to share it.  Semantics?  Perhaps.  But, add in that you’re “grateful” to have the resources to be able to provide, much less share, that special meal with others and the nuance gets even more broad.  I know, it doesn’t really matter which one you use and the purpose of this little game of words isn’t to teach grammar.  It’s simply to focus our thinking and remind us all how blessed we are to live where we do, as we do and when we do.  Here’s wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving, Bentwater.  Yep, life’s good.

Me?  I’m grateful to be frying turkeys for several of you all day (at least until dinner time) on Thursday, and this is your last call if others of you would like to have me fry yours as well.  As I write this, I still have a couple of time slots available but, of course, by the time you read this that ship may have sailed.  Anyway, as always, it’s first-come, first-served so, if you’re interested, you need to email me or, better yet, call or text me at (936) 788-3220 right now.

Meanwhile, ‘tis the season.  Please remember that the Toys For Tots campaign is in full swing and, thanks to the support and generosity of Bentwater residents, we’ll be helping Santa delight lots of deserving kids again this year.  For those who have already dropped toys in the donation boxes at the country club and sports club, thank you.  We’re picking those up and delivering them to the elves in Santa’s workshop regularly but, for your convenience, those boxes will remain in place for a couple more weeks.  We’ll also have donation boxes on site at the Bentwater’s Annual Holiday in The Park in the Meadows event on December 1st.  And, of course, among other activities in early December, we’ll be there for the Bentwater Ladies Organization luncheon on the 12th, the Men of Bentwater dinner on the 8th, and the Bentwater Ladies’ Golf Association Jingle Bell Brunch. Questions on any of this?  Call me.  And please know that we truly, truly appreciate you.  All of you.  Each and every one of you.
