Since you’ve surely already heard it dozens of times from just about everyone you know (and lots of people you don’t know at all), there’s really no need for me to remind you that today’s the day you need to turn your clocks back an hour.  So, I won’t.  Just don’t blame me when you find yourself showing up an hour early for events happening today.

Meanwhile, it’s also now November which means, among other things, that the annual Toys For Tots campaign is officially underway.  It’ll become obvious to you as you start to notice Toys For Tots branded donation boxes popping up here and there including, for your convenience, in the Country Club entry foyer, the Crescent Grill and the Sports Club (courtesy of your club GM, Mike Hoelzer).  There will also be donation boxes and volunteers accepting toys at the annual Holiday Festival to be taking place at The Park In The Meadows on December 1st.  In addition to live music and holiday activities for youngsters, there will be all sorts holiday gifts and gift-giving ideas for you.  Including toys.  For tots.  Get it?  We hope to see you there.  While we’re all kids at heart and everyone is just as thrilled to receive Christmas gifts as Santa is to give them, this campaign, as its name implies, is specifically intended to serve a specific audience.  Tots.  You know.  Youngsters.  Maybe 12 or younger.  And, regardless of where you’d prefer to contribute to the cause, just drop a new, unwrapped toy (or several) into a donation box in any of the locations.

The “new” part should be obvious, but the “unwrapped” part is equally important because Santa’s elves have to be able to know what it is in order to match up which toys might best be suited for which tots.  If you’re pressed for time to go shopping and/or have no idea what type of toy to get, there’s a very easy and simple solution.  Just write a check payable to Toys For Tots, put it in an envelope and either hand it to a volunteer or drop it into any properly marked box.  Santa’s elves will then retrieve them and go shopping for the perfect toys on your behalf.  And, if you own a business or work in a location that might benefit from having a donation box on site, just drop me a note via text or email and we’ll make that happen.  The same goes for private parties and social events.  Wherever people with good attitudes and kind hearts congregate, we’ll gratefully oblige.  You can text me at (936) 788-3220 and my email is below.  There’s a lot of stress in our world right now, and perhaps the best stress reliever ever is to willingly and generously help others in need, and Bentwater always comes through.  So, please allow me to thank you, in advance, for your continued support of Toys For Tots.
