Mornin’ Bentwater. To all of you moms out there and to all of you fortunate enough to still have your mom to talk to and love on now and then, Happy Mother’s Day! This is a particularly special Mother’s Day. Why? Because it’s happening today. Right now. So, be sure you’re living in the moment, and give mom a big hug. Maybe bunches of hugs.
Meanwhile, not to get too far ahead of ourselves, we’re right around the corner from Memorial Day, with Flag Day and 4th of July not far behind, and, in preparation, the Coushatti Trace Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) will be providing a publication package including the US Flag Code, Flag Facts, a list of Flying Days in 2024, along with table-top sized US and Texas flags. It’s all part of their local “Fly Our Flags With Pride” program for which your neighbor, Barbara Thomas, is the Project Chair. To take this particular effort one step further, if you’re a Bentwater resident and so inclined, they’ll even deliver your very own “flag bag” directly to your front door. Just email the chapter at CoushattiTraceDAR@gmail.com and they’ll make it happen for you. And, if you’d like more information about what it means to be a member of their chapter yourself, that same email will connect you to some answers. Or, if you’d prefer to explore things in person, prospective members are invited to visit the next chapter meeting on Thursday, May 16 at 1:30 PM at West Conroe Baptist Church in the Garden Room.
On a completely unrelated topic, for those of you who might not know (or care), I’m being told that the bridge adjacent to the tee boxes on #10 Miller is in need of repair, perhaps even demolition and rebuilding, so starting this coming Wednesday the 15th that hole will be closed until the project is completed, perhaps as much as two weeks (seriously?). Actually, since play will necessarily be detoured, there’s no direct way to get holes #11 and #12 which means they’ll be closed as well. So, when you leave the 9th green you’ll need to turn left on Marseille and follow to a right on Bentwater Drive. Continue through the stop sign at West Shore Drive (after stopping, of course) and turn right onto the cart path leading to hole #13. For those of you who don’t golf but might sometimes use the cart path as your personal walking trail (even though it’s against “the rules” of the Country Club, just sayin’), you might start thinking about an alternate route as well. But first, hug mom.
