All of you Bentwater Pickleballers out there probably already know the details but, for the rest of you, here’s a little history behind the event that happened yesterday.  Yes, yesterday.  And, no, I can’t give you the results because I’m writing this last Thursday.  See my challenge?  Even so, everyone deserves a little recognition now and then, so I’ll report the outcome in a future article.  Meanwhile, back to the (almost) present, the event was the Conroe Pickleball Cup which is an Interclub team competition between Walden Country Club on Lake Conroe, April Sound Country Club, The Woodlands Country Club (just joining the competition this year) and, of course, your very own Bentwater Country Club.

In years past the event was played as the Lake Conroe Cup, but the name was changed this year to more accurately acclimate to the geography.  Seems the Woodlands ain’t on Lake Conroe.  Anyway, Bentwater’s Pickleballers are the defending champs, having won the Cup in April of 2023, and are vying to successfully keep the trophy on display in the Sports Club for 2024.  There’s lots more to know about the world of Pickleball and I’ll make an effort to bring you along with me as I learn.  For example, I’m being told there’s something known as the North Houston Interclub Pickleball League where teams of ladies travel to compete with each other.  Two of those teams are from Bentwater and there’s one each from April Sound, The Woodlands and Elkin’s Lake.  This is their inaugural season and, as it winds down, at present, the Bentwater Ladies are #1 and #3 with only three matches still to be played.

Switching directions (and topics), here’s something that hasn’t happened yet (but is about to).  It’s graduation time and Bentwater Life has an upcoming edition dedicated to Bentwater’s graduating seniors.  Naturally, you’re invited to participate.  This invitation is open to full and part-time residents whose seniors, including their grandchildren, are graduating from high school or college/higher education.  Interested?  Of course you are, but you’ll need to submit your graduating senior’s information by May 5th to be in the magazine. What kind of information you ask?  Well, start with the student’s name (duh), add in a high-resolution photo, a few highlights (3-5 accomplishments) of their educational journey thus far, maybe a few words about their future plans and even a quote from your senior.

Submit all that to bentwatercontent@gmail.com and your all set.  Don’t have a high-res photo? No worries.  Photography by Niki is standing by help.  She has an award-winning studio in Montgomery and will even do on-location portraits.  You can reach her at niki@photographybyniki.com or call (281) 798-0702.  Just don’t dally.  Publication submission deadline is May 5th.
