If you watch even a smidgen of television news, you’re aware that there’s an election (or several) in your near future.  Lots of important choices to be made and selecting your U.S. President certainly ranks close to the top.  But I would argue that making good decisions about the folks vying for your vote to represent you locally are even more important because everything happening in Washington starts at home since.

So, get to know your candidates.  Personally.  You’re invited to get up close and personal with some of those candidates by attending the Candidate Forum coming up on Tuesday, January 30, at the North Montgomery County Community Center located at 600 Gerald Street in Willis.  Sponsored by North Shore Republican Women, it’ll start with a casual meet ‘n’ greet from 5PM – 6PM followed by the Candidate Forum itself from 6PM – 8PM.  This is a lead up to the primary election coming up on March 5th with early voting beginning on February 20th, so come get educated to be sure you’ll be casting well-informed votes.

Other candidates are still being lined up but, as of this writing, confirmations include Texas Railroad Commissioner candidate Jim Matlock and Sharon Keller, candidate for the Presiding Judge for the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.  There’s also Kent Chambers and Kenna Seiler who are each running for Justice, 9th District Court of Appeals, Place 4. Don’t really understand what Appeals Courts do?  Here’s your chance to learn.  There will also be candidates for Montgomery County Sheriff including Rand Henderson, Kenton Ford and Wesley Doolittle. And, during the meet ‘n’ greet you should make a point to spend some quality time with Ann Kate who’s running for re-election as Republican Precinct Chair for Precinct 72.  Where’s Precinct 72 you ask?  Well, it’s pretty easy to find.  You live in it.  It’s essentially Bentwater plus a few homes west on the south side of FM 1097.

You’ve probably heard of North Shore Republican Women but maybe you really aren’t quite sure what they do or why you should care.  Fair enough.  That’s precisely why NSRW is hosting a new/prospective member Wine and Cheese Party on January 18th here in Bentwater.  It starts at 6 PM at a member’s private residence at 147 Ridge Lake Lane.  It’ll be a casual venue for meeting some like-minded neighbors, so please RSVP to Genette Stanton at genette@northshorerw.com so the hostess can plan accordingly.  While the event is intended for those newcomers wishing to become more acquainted with the organization, long-standing members may also attend provided they are accompanying a future new member.
See you at the Forum.
