Bentwater has lots of moving parts and, whether you’re new to Bentwater (and there many of you who are) or have lived here for years, chances are there are special aspects of your community that you either don’t know about or may have simply forgotten.  Even everyday life things.  Take water, for example.  Yeah, water.  In most of Texas, it’s either scarce or expensive or both.  But here in Bentwater it’s uniquely plentiful and downright cheap.  Think about it.  Residents in close-by communities often pay hundreds of dollars to turn on their taps every month, but most of us rarely, if ever, see a monthly MUD bill even approaching $100.  Why?

Well, contrary to what some might logically assume, it ain’t Lake Conroe.  Nope.  There’s this thing called the Catahoula Reservoir.  It’s an underground ocean of water.  Fresh water.  Soft water.  And because your MUD Board of perhaps a decade ago had the vision (thank you, John Bleyl) and was bold enough to invest to drill through the Jasper Reservoir to reach the Catahoula, not only do we enjoy an abundance of water today, many Bentwater homes no longer even have water softeners.  Feeling special?  Good.  Because there’s more to be grateful for.  Are you aware that there are dozens of social groups which have been organized over the years by the Bentwater Ladies Organization?  And 2024’s incoming president, Tracie deRoulac, is inviting you to learn more about all of them tomorrow, January 8th, at the Yacht Club.  As with every second Monday, it’s when the BLO’s monthly luncheon happens.

I know, you’re thinking it’s probably too late to make a lunch reservation if you haven’t already, and you’d be right.  But you’re still welcome to arrive early (doors open around 9:30) and spend a few minutes beforehand browsing and visiting with the nearly 3 dozen committee chairs to explore some of the fun things available to you.  There’ll be tables set up with information about all the various groups of BLO members.  From bunco to bridge, dining in and/or dining out, museum trips, book clubs, and much more.  And all you have to do is show up to discover a crowd of new friends with common interests.  The BLO is dedicated to promoting friendship, fellowship and fun among the women of Bentwater, so come check it out.  After all, it’s a new year.  Could it be a new you?  You’re likely to be impressed with what you learn, and you’re certain to experience yet more of the things that make life in Bentwater so unique.
