In the “better late than never” category, please join me in offering congratulations to Jodi Gunnerson on her hole-in-one scored on September 8th, 2023 on 17 Miller. She was playing with cohorts and witnesses Darlene Bumstead, Lori Sanchez and Toni Masich at the time so there’s no doubt that it actually happened. Now, as cool as any hole-in-one is, what’s even cooler is that she’d also scored an ace on 17 Weiskopf, the other course. Wait, it gets better. Those aces came exactly one year apart. Do you think maybe September 8th is now her favorite date? Something to look forward to every year? And maybe her favorite number is now “one?” Nah. I’m betting 17 is what she’ll play on the roulette wheel from now on. Regardless, give Jodi a high-five when you see her.
It’s never too late but it would be appreciated if you could do that before September of 2024 rolls around.
Speaking of “it’s never too late” category, it’s never too late to say “thank you” and that’s exactly what Dan and Deb Rose are doing. On October 24 at high noon, they’ll be hosting the second of what they hope to be many Annual Joseph Vaeth cookouts at their home on 2 Oaks Court which, conveniently enough, also sits alongside of the 7th tee box of the Miller course. While the event itself is named as a tribute to golf professional Joseph Vaeth from Clifton Park Golf Course, it’s also intended as a way to say “thank you” to the grounds crews and staffs who provide a great golfing experience for the rest of us throughout the year. Taking care of all three Bentwater golf courses all year long means maintaining lots of pristine square feet Texas. For more details on the event, you can email Dan at peaceorhavoc@gmail.com or text him at (410) 652-2654. Looking forward to seeing you there.
Meanwhile, you know about Leona Ross, right? Oh, you don’t know Leona? Well, you should. And you soon will. After all, she’s a local celebrity having just won the Little Miss Montgomery County pageant. Now she’s advancing to the Little Miss Texas competition that’ll be taking place October 20-22 in Bastrop, TX. Leona’s very proud parents are Theresa and Anthony Ross, and you have reason to be proud as well because Leona also represents you. She is, after all, a neighbor living here in Bentwater. Did I mention the local celebrity part? Congratulations Leona. Well deserved. We’ll all be cheering for you.
