Did you vote?  Hope so.  Every vote matters.  Regardless of whether you’ll have cast a ballot, you might still want to attend the POA Quarterly Board meeting because, among other things, it’ll be announced who everyone else voted for.  And, by the way, if you didn’t vote, your complaining privileges about anything that goes on in Bentwater are officially suspended for the rest of the year.  Maybe longer.  Of course, talking isn’t the same as complaining and the Board always welcomes residents’ input, and it would really earn you some popularity points if you’d provide that input in person rather than just being in that herd sharing uninformed opinions online.  So, come on out, get the facts and then share your thoughts.  There’ll even be an open mic waiting for you. It all happens in the Yacht Club ballroom starting promptly at 7 o’clock this coming Wednesday evening, the 20th.  See ya’ there.
I’ll also see some of you at the MOB luncheon on that same day, just a different time and place.  It’ll happen at the Country Club with doors opening at 11 followed by lunch at 11:30. Then you’ll hear a few words from the guest speaker, Mark Keough, who has been your County Judge since January 2019 and knows his way around the political landscape of Montgomery County.  He can help you know it, too.  It is, after all, political season so it’s time to pay attention to current events.  And that always tends to be more productive when we start by reflecting on old events.  You know.  History.Â
And there’s a lot of history to reflect on today, because today is Constitution Day and the start of Constitution Week.  Did you know that?  Me neither until Kay Pontious reminded me.  Being part of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), she knows about stuff like that.  Sadly, too many people seem to have forgotten why the Constitution even matters, much less that there’s a Constitution Day.  But there is, and it really is today.  It happens every September 17th thanks to something that happened way back in 1787 when delegates to the Constitutional Convention first signed that document in Philadelphia.  A serious history moment, though it took another two years for enough states to vote for it to ratify the Constitution.  A serious history changing moment.
DAR invites you to embrace history and help kick off Constitution Week today at 3 o’clock at the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Park. It’s by the Conroe Library at I-45 and 105.  The setting alone makes it worth the drive.Â
