Happy Thanksgiving everyone! As this great American holiday approaches, may we all take time to reflect on all the reasons that each of us have to be thankful. I hope your list is very long and that you have a long list of blessings to count. Wouldn’t it be so great if the whole world could just pause for that special day and spend that entire time in peace?
The April Sound Civic Association Board regrets the cancellation of the Veteran’s Day Parade that was planned for last Saturday morning. We tried, but, again, Mother Nature didn’t smile on us. But, now, ASCA is gearing up for another outdoor activity. On Friday evening right after Thanksgiving Day, on November 24th, the Civic Association will sponsor The Lighting of the Boulevard with Santa on Reserve F near the Clubhouse. This family event is a fan favorite as there will be a snow machine so the children can frolic in the flakes as they fall. At 6:00 p.m. Santa will arrive in Keith Lucke’s red convertible escorted by our Security. There will be a dramatic countdown and the big tree by the flagpole will be turned on marking the beginning of the Holidays in our community.
Santa will take his and begin his visits with all the children. If you haven’t experienced our April Sound Santa, he is just the very best! There will be candy canes, the Club will be furnishing hot chocolate and warm cider, and the ASCA will have cookies for everyone. Our famous Santa mailbox will be along by the refreshments for each child who wants to write a letter to Santa while waiting. So, bring your holiday company, bring the whole family, and come celebrate the beginning of the holidays with all your friends and neighbors!
As you drive the Boulevard next Friday night and after, you will also get to see all the Holiday Lighting exhibit which will be installed by then. Your Civic Association has, over the years, purchased all the lighting, as well as the holiday banners. Vyty Bobkovas of Brite Ideas of North Houston and his team install all the lighting from the front of the Boulevard to the flagpole, maintain it for the time it is on display, then remove it and store it all in his warehouse for the next year. You will see over $5000 in new lighting, including a new big tree in Reserve E and more spheres as you enter, new lighting in the slide bed, more lighting in the trees at April Wind North, and the fantastic new red, white and blue shooting lights by our bronze eagle at the corner of April Waters North. The ASCA Lighting Committee had many decisions to make as we added to our collection for 2023. We can only purchase all this with the support of our wonderful members. So, come down to greet Santa and join in the merriment!
Again, have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and “Count Your Blessings One by One.”
