The bewitching hour is fast approaching, and all the plans for the April Sound Civic Association’s big Halloween Carnival are in place, and many volunteers are signed up to make it all happen on Monday and Tuesday. The event is at the Tennis Center on Halloween Night from 5 until 8 p.m. The Carnival is open to all ages, and there is no charge for all the fun. On Monday at 9 a.m., volunteers and ASCA Board members will be meeting at 105 Storage to transport all the makings of the Carnival to the Tennis Center. Then, teams of volunteers will work through the day creating the fantastic tunnel with lights, hanging creatures, and standing figures, (even our headless horseman). On Tuesday from noon on, when tennis play has ended, the volunteers will begin setting up all the games and activities on the Tennis courts. ASCA Events Co-Chairs Sandy Caldera and Michelle Martin have been shopping and planning for several months and promise this year’s games and prizes will be the best ever! Many of the Clubs within the Country Club have stepped up to sponsor a game. The Social Committee will again have their famous fishing booth, the Men’s Club will be at the Sucker Pull, Terice Richards and Bridgette will be at the coloring station, and volunteers are on tap to take a turn of helping at all the other booths.
So, when you arrive at the Tennis Center, check in at the main table so that we have a count for the evening. Last year we had close to a thousand people participating in the evening! Then, you proceed down the “scary” tunnel and into the big lighted area. For the very little ones, if the tunnel seems too scary, you will be directed to the other entrance and still gain the same access to the games. ASCA Membership Chairperson, Traci Myers, will be near a table in case you haven’t had a chance yet to join the Civic Association for this year. Plus, there will be an exhibit with a cush figure holding M&M’s. Everyone can guess how many are in the bowl, and the winner will be announced at 7 p.m. Be sure to register for the big prize! The Country Club will be serving food and drinks, also.
Now, about the ever-popular Cake Walk! If you have signed up to bring goodies for the Cake Walk, you may bring them to the Tennis Center from noon to 4 on Halloween Day. There will be helpers to receive them. Please make sure they are well-wrapped and easy for the winners to carry away with them. The Cake Walk will begin promptly at 5 and run the entire evening, so many cupcakes, cakes, and cookies will be welcomed. Dino Caldera will be playing our walking music for the Cake Walk and says he’s happy with his collection of appropriate music.
Costumes are welcome, even for adults. No kids? Just come on down and join in the fun!. Volunteers are always welcome, too! Happy Halloween! Boo!
