It always seems there is a lot going on all the time in April Sound, but even though we have the intense heat, it seems that there has been even more than usual.
On Tuesday evening a nice group of folks gathered in the Lakeside Room for the monthly Wine Party. Upon entrance, we were greeted and given a glass of sparkling wine, and Penny Funk, President of the Wine Society, introduced the wines after everyone had found a spot to sit and introductions had been made. The tasting included a beautiful charcuterie board and four wines for tasting.
Then, Thursday morning the Men of April Sound gathered in the same room for their monthly luncheon and program. Thursday night’s theme for Trivia was Sports and Leisure. The room was unusually filled with hopeful players. Wes Weed and Bill Stone volunteer their time to run the Trivia Game, and Stoney puts in a lot of research for the questions.
Trivia is always the third Thursday of the month. What I sometimes think about, is, while we choose to do certain activities at the Club and in the community, meanwhile there is much going on throughout the neighborhood beyond just our choices, such as all the pool activity, the golf, the tennis and Pickleball courts, and all the leisure game nights and dinner groups.
You can certainly be as busy as you want to be in this great community!
On Wednesday evening, the April Sound Ladies Association will be having its first ever evening meeting with spouses and significant others invited for dinner and dancing with the Two Black Guys entertaining. If you’re an ASLA member and want to join in, sign up quickly using the form sent on-line. Desiree Blache’ has surely done a great job this year as Vice President of Programming.
Speaking of the April Sound Church, do you enjoy gospel music? Next Sunday afternoon, August 27th at 4 p.m., the choir is sponsoring an Old-time Gospel Sing with invited guests joining with the choir and the entire congregation invited to add their voices to such wonderful old gospel songs as “Give Me that Old Time Religion”, “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder”, “Church in the Wildwood”, “Just a Little Talk with Jesus”, and “I’ll Fly Away.” Afterward, there will be an ice cream social with ice cream and all the fixings. Come join in the fun next Sunday! It’ll take you back to days gone by and you’ll leave with a song in your heart and happiness in your soul! Everyone will be most welcome, and, it’s cool inside the Church!
