The April Sound Men’s Club invited spouses to join in on the special member event for August. A group of interested folks joined together on Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m. at the B52 Brewing Company off Highway 105 West to enjoy a tasting and tour of the Brewery. After everyone had made their decisions on the four flights of choices of beer, Cameron Carter, Assistant Operations Manager of the company, invited everyone on an informational tour of the adjoining brewery. He explained the brewing process and answered questions.

B52 features over 20 unique, house-brewed beers on tap, and a large selection of wine, cider and mead. Their space includes a spacious shaded beer garden and a climate-controlled taproom that can seat up to 120 guests. They are pet and family friendly (in fact there was an adorable family with a little girl and an equally adorable big brown friendly dog at the table near us.) They also offer food trucks. It was a great opportunity for our April Sound neighbors to visit and get to know each other outside the monthly luncheon meetings. Both the Men’s Club and the April Sound Ladies Association offer many activities to bring people together with interesting programs and fun activities, and both groups are open to members of the April Sound Country Club.

If you drive through our neighborhood, or Waterford Estates, on any of the patriotic holidays, you will see beautiful American flags lining many of the streets. The Flags Over April Sound program kicks off each year on Labor Day. April Sound residents Jack and Mary McClanahan have generously supported this ministry of the April Sound Church since its inception. A fee of $50 per flag includes installation of one flag holder at your curbside, a small star painted on the curb to help locate the holder, as well as placement and retrieval of a beautiful 3’ by 5’ American flag. This includes seven patriotic holidays: Labor Day, Patriot’s Day, Veteran’s Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, and Independence Day. Volunteers from the Church and community do all the delivering and retrieving of the flags.

To renew or to sign up as a new member, you may visit https://www.soundchurchtx.com/flags-over-april-sound with a credit card, or you may download the pdf form and mail a check or drop off your payment directly at the church office. They love more volunteers, also! There’s a space on the form to say you’ll take a route to deliver and retrieve flags. So, this is a friendly reminder that it’s time to renew, or, if you haven’t signed up yet, you may do so and have a beautiful flag flying in the breeze in your very own front yard!

Reg Symons is now taking reservations for the big Chili Cook-Off sponsored by the Social Committee on Saturday, November 11th, just after the Veteran’s Day Parade. Teams of four are welcome to sign up now for $20. Email Reg at symonsregina@gmail.com for more information.Â
