Businesses and shoppers were continuing normal operations, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
HOUSTON — Seeing deputies or police around The Woodlands Mall? They’re investigating a threat that could be “swatting,” the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday afternoon.
According to a Facebook post by MCSO, a threat was called in but it may be a case of “swatting,” where someone initiates an emergency law enforcement response against a target under false pretenses.
Mall operations were continuing as usual. There was no evacuation.
“There have been similar calls in the region and out of an abundance of caution law enforcement is investigating,” the post read.
This is a developing story. Additional details will be added as they are learned.
In an apparently unrelated case, a threat was called into the Brazoria County Courthouse Thursday morning, leading to evacuations in downtown Angleton. Investigators later said the courthouse was cleared and no explosives were found.
