Rotarians build communities together, helping other groups to achieve more.

Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Conroe judged The Dispute Resolution Center of Montgomery County 2025 Conflict Resolution Bookmark Art Contest (BAC) last Tuesday at the Master Gardener’s Building at the Agri-Life Extension office.

They reviewed hundreds of uniquely designed book markers from several grade levels to establish those book markers that would be printed for distribution in the schools.

Rotarians like Roger Goertz volunteer several hours each week at the Montgomery County Food Bank, packaging tons of food for those eeking out a living. He and fellow Rotarian/wife, Natalie, volunteer to mentor a schools in The Woodlands.

Rotarian Julie Martineau runs the Montgomery County Community Foundation which hosts millions of dollars of funds to distribute to charity. MCCF will be hosting an intimate evening at Grand Pines Reserve where a world-class four-course culinary treat is perfectly paired with wines from around the world.  The event includes a live auction and raffle.  The annual MCCF Gifts of the Vine Wine Dinner on April 3, allows the Community Foundation to continue growing its assets to increase the funds available for scholarships and grants to the nonprofit community.

Rotarians are raising funds for our charitable causes. The Rotary Club of Lake Conroe just ended a month-long event where a $50 ticket allows an adult to try wines and beers at local breweries and wineries. This event normally happens each March so hop on board for next year’s “fun raiser” with the Rotary Club of Lake Conroe.

The Rotary Club of Conroe is continuing its “fun raising” with its annual Pancake Supper on Tuesday, April 29, from 5 to 8 pm. Pancakes, sausages, bacon, and more will be served at the iconic Honor Café in historic downtown Conroe. This is a family affair with Adults at $25 and those 12 or younger at $10. Tickets are available from Conroe Rotarians with limited tickets at the door. In addition, sponsors are being signed up for the “I Like Me” books which are distributed to first graders at the Elementary Schools which normally feed into Conroe High School. These hardback books are styled for each individual first grader based on information provided to the Rotary Club. President Ed Kelly told me, “it is the Rotary Club of Conroe’s signature program. This will be our 25th year and over those years, we have distributed 31,348 books to first graders in the Conroe HS feeder zone.

We do 11 schools including, Anderson, Armstrong, Geisinger, Gordon Reed, Houston, Patterson, Reaves, Rice, Runyan, Stewart and Wilkinson.

There are two sponsors per school. Sponsors are credited on the front or back page. We have four long-time sponsors that have the front page for Geisinger, Gordon Reed, Rice and Wilkinson. Any other front page slots are open or any back page.

Funds raised at these two Rotary Club “fun raisers” will benefit Montgomery County youth!
