The Rotary Club of Conroe is diligently working hard on acquiring data and preparing “I Like Me” books for first-graders in the Conroe High School feeder system.
Teachers are provided questionnaires for their first-graders at the elementary schools which feed into Conroe High School. Teachers are to provide information on their first-graders which includes their name, their best friend’s name, their favorite activities and more which is compiled into a hardback book using first grade words.
Forms are being returned to Rotarians Steve Muir who has been involved in this process for years. This information take a month to compile, print, and ship to Conroe for distribution in the elementary schools. These books are then distributed by Rotarians and sponsors each year to these first-graders a few weeks before the end of the school year in May.
Rotarians and sponsors visit the classrooms in each of the elementary schools which feed into Conroe High School. The books are ceremoniously provided each student. Rotarians are seeking school sponsors with two sponsors per school at $1,000 per sponsorship or a sponsor can fund $2,000 per school.
The sponsor’s name is provided in each book at the school they sponsor. About half of the school sponsorship have been acquired with more sponsorships coming in the next two weeks. If you would like to be a school sponsor, please contact me at rsaikowski@comcast.net.
The Rotary Club of Lake Conroe is hosting a month-long “fun raiser” event during March. These fun-loving Rotarians are selling ticket books to our area’s wineries and breweries, with one ticket per adult entitling free tastings and more. Gather together with friends to make this a great fun event during the entire month of March.
The ticket books are available for purchase either on their website or from any club member at https://www.lakeconroerotary.org or from any club member.

The Rotary club of Conroe is continuing its “fun raising” with its annual Pancake Supper on Tuesday, April 29, from 5 to 8pm. This is a Family Affair with Adults at $25 and those 12 or younger at $10. Tickets will be available from Conroe Rotarians.
Funds raised at these two Rotary Club “fun raisers” will benefit Montgomery County youth!
Our Rotary family mourns the death of former Conroe Rotarian Thomas Stewart who was a Past President of the Rotary club of Conroe and on the Rotary District Wall of Honor. In addition, Rotarian Peggy Apple from the Rotary Club of Lake Conroe passed away at 86. She served faithfully for many years in Rotary projects.
