The very special “Pints For A Purpose” fundraiser and Alzheimer’s awareness event is just a few days away and excitement is growing! The afternoon of Sunday September 17th will find us and our friends at Landshark Bar and Grill at Margaritaville Resort Lake Conroe from 2 – 5 p.m. for this brand new event. And it’s free to attend!

As you would expect for an event at M’Ville, the mood will be tropical and the music will be the laid back and island sounds of Jimmy Buffett, courtesy of The 5 O’Clock Phlock Parrot Head Club’s Jammin’ DJs – these guys are JB experts, and they’ll be laying out the great tunes you don’t hear on the radio. And as you might imagine, there will be some special tributes for Jimmy, who passed away on Friday September 1st after a 4 year battle with a rare and aggressive skin cancer. There will be lawn games with drawings for prizes for winners, special games and gifts for the kids, and of course those “Pints” – 25.00 buys you a pint of beer (or soda or iced tea) plus one refill, the Alzheimer’s logo souvenir glass, and 8.00 of each sale goes to the Alzheimer’s Association. The lawn games are only 5.00 per game, with proceeds going to the cause too. It’s going to be a great afternoon. Come on out and enjoy the day!

Rotary has supported Alzheimer’s Research and Awareness for decades and sponsors a National Alzheimer’s Walk Team and commits to donate a minimum of 250,000.00 each year through Rotarian donations through their walk teams and corporate donations.

Save The Date! The Lake Conroe Rotarians send us news of a Duck Race coming soon! Here’s the scoop directly from the club: RCLC  has signed up for a duck adoption. What fun opportunity for helping the community! The RCLC team link to adopt a duck is: https://www.duckrace.com/MoCo/ teams/13411. What’s this all about?

The 16th Annual Community Assistance Center Duck Race is a family friendly community fundraising event benefiting CAC. This year, a new record high of 10,000 rubber ducks will tumble, splash, bob, and slosh down the lazy river at Margaritaville Lake Resort, Lake Conroe, racing to the finish line to win “QUACK”tacular prizes for their adopters! The event will be held at Margaritaville Lake Resort, Lake Conroe on Oct. 7.

Proceeds from this fun-filled special event will support Community Assistance Center (CAC) programs which provide immediate basic needs assistance with food, clothing, utilities, rent/mortgage payments and case management services promoting long term solutions and stability for our Montgomery County neighbors experiencing financial hardships.
