Sixteen Belles of the Rebel Joan Of Arc 2721 Chapter, of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, met at Carrabba’s Italian Restaurant in The Woodlands, to Celebrate their Heroine and Chapter namesake.
It would have been the 181st Birthday of Belle Boyd, which was her stage name, but she was born in Virginia as Isabella Maria Boyd. The Yankees also gave her the name:
“Rebel Joan of Arc” for her tenacity and courageousness during the War Between the States. Belle Boyd was a Confederate Spy for two Confederate Generals and served the wounded smuggling medicines and food for the Confederate Soldiers. This young girl was given many other aliases by the Yankees, but nothing deterred her, not even the numerous times she was arrested and jailed, still nothing deterred her from her duty to her cause she so believed in, helping her Southland every way she could.
On the Birthday of Belle Boyd, the RJOA ladies come together to celebrate her and can be seen standing and sitting around her tall cardboard image in her elegant dinner gown. She looks like she is holding the Red Star Balloons that RJOA Founder: ELAINE COLLINGS brought for her! RJOA President JENNY LEHR is seated amongst her Officers and brought “Belle Boyd’s Birthday Cake”! All the ladies are holding their RED Fans southern style in honor of their heroine: Belle Boyd! This Chapter has members who travel great distances to come be together from Cypress, Old Town Spring, Montgomery, Kingwood, Hockley, Porter, and one even visiting from Portland Oregon! ~ALL FOR THE LOVE OF WHAT THEY DO, AND EACH OTHER~!
