Union Pacific aims to replace 600 railroad ties in Harris and Montgomery counties.
HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Work on local railroads began last weekend and is expected to last nearly two weeks.
The work is being done on a railroad that runs through Harris County and Montgomery County.
Union Pacific began work on the line on Jan. 11 in the Spring area. They stated that the work is part of the first phase of a railroad tie replacement project.
“The project will replace 600 railroad ties and resurface public roadway crossings with a goal of completing one to two a day,” Union Pacific said in a statement.
The work will take place between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Here’s a list of the roadways that will be impacted:
- Saturday, Jan. 11: Robinson Road
- Saturday, Jan. 11: Woodson Road
- Sunday, Jan. 12: Cox Road (Only access for residents and businesses)
- Sunday, Jan. 12: Trade Center Parkway
- Monday, Jan. 13: Tamina Road
- Tuesday, Jan. 14: Texas 242 (Eastbound frontage road)
- Tuesday, Jan. 14: Texas 242 (Westbound frontage road)
- Tuesday, Jan. 21: FM 1488 (East side of Interstate 45)
- Wednesday, Jan. 22: Rayford Road Access
