Montgomery County commissioners are set to discuss an informational update on the state of the county jail for the forecasted inmate population growth at its July 15 meeting.

What you need to know

According to the agenda packet, commissioners will hear a presentation on the county jail and discuss the land swap agreement between the county and Howard Hughes Corporation, specifically within the Village of Grogan’s Mill.

Commissioners will also consider changing the days of court from Tuesday to Thursday to accommodate the passing of House Bill 1522, a new state law that requires a three-business-day notice prior to a governing body’s meeting rather than a 72-hour posted notice.

Also on the agenda

Commissioners will also take action on the Montgomery Central Appraisal District’s operating budget and discuss House Bill 2012, which allows counties with a population greater than 600,000 people to issue regulations against roadside vendors if it is adjacent to a county with a population of more than 4 million people, like Harris County.

The meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. July 15 at 501 N. Thompson St., Ste. 402 in Conroe. The meeting will also be livestreamed on the county’s website.
