Conroe ISD will hold a special meeting to discuss its upcoming fiscal year 2025-26 budget April 1.
The details
CISD Chief Financial Officer Karen Garza previously gave a presentation in December on the preliminary budget, and told the board about a potential refund from a state error in 2023, as previously reported by Community Impact. Officials said in December the error was a result of inaccurate reporting instructions provided by the state comptroller’s office to the local tax assessor.
In the December meeting, the preliminary CISD budget included an estimated total revenue of $718.81 million and estimated expenditures of $722.62 million. The projected FY 2025-26 tax rate is $0.9447 per $100 valuation, a decrease of $0.0049, Garza said in December.
“We probably won’t find out the definitive answer of how much [it will decrease] until spring, but conservatively, we have had two external groups look at the calculations and we are anticipating conservatively about a $10 million gain for tax year 2023 and $7.5 million for going on for tax rate 2024,” Garza said at the Dec. 5 meeting.
The April 1 agenda includes an item for an overview of the 2025-26 budget as well as an update on the 2025-26 health plan design and premiums.
