According to information from the National Forests and Grasslands, smoke will impact areas around the prescribed burn and long-range drift smoke may be present during and after ignition operations. Ground personnel will operate in the area and smoke may impact visibility on local roads and highways near the burn unit.
Prescribed burns are important for maintaining the health of forest land including reducing hazardous fuels, protecting human communities from extreme fires; minimizing the spread of pest insects and diseases; removes unwanted species that threaten species native to an ecosystem; providing forage for game; improving habitat for threatened and endangered species; recycles nutrients back to the soil; and promotes the growth of trees, wildflowers, and other plants.
