A new Montgomery restaurant intends to show that “life is still fun in the suburbs.”

At Suburbs Bar and Grill, off Fish Creek Thoroughfare in the Woodforest community, several TVs are on display showing various sports events in the background. To the left of the restaurant, is a small stage where local musicians play on weekends, dart boards are posted in the corner and a blue neon sign reads “so you moved to the suburbs…you still can have fun!”

The menu includes sandwiches, tacos, flatbreads and burgers. It also has entree plates that include a seafood platter and steak. The drink menu includes custom old fashions, other cocktails, wine and beer.

“We wanted to create a hangout space for people,” said Haley Bowers marketing manager for the restaurant. “Somewhere they can go catch the game, stay for a couple of hours, not have to rush back home, or not have to drive too far out to find somewhere like us.”

Within a small radius, a couple of other bars can be found in the area, however, none are like the sports bar, Bowers said.

The location was chosen in Woodforest due to the “immense growth potential and focus on being a family-friendly community,” according to a release by the restaurant.

Woodforest is a 3,000-acre master-planned community located roughly five miles north of The Woodlands and six miles south of Lake Conroe, according to its website.

“We believe that every guest should feel like family,” Bowers said in the release. “Woodforest has done an amazing job in creating a community with a lot of involvement from people in the area. We knew when we decided to open our concept that this was a community that we had to be a part of, and we are so excited for it.”

The restaurant opened Aug. 18, with plans for a covered outdoor patio with fire pits and televisions to be constructed in the fall.
