Several Montgomery and Harris county agencies responded to a fire Monday morning at a First Baptist Church building in New Caney.

Firefighters arrived around 5 a.m. Monday at the building at Interstate 69 and FM 1485, where the roof of the building was engulfed in flames, East Montgomery Fire Chief Kyle Romagus told the Montgomery County Police Reporter.

After initial attempts to extinguish the fire, additional units were called, he said. 

Around 6 a.m., the fire was under control. No one was injured during the fire, Romagus said.  

The building was previously used by the church, but was recently sold, Pastor Jonathan Fitzgerald told the Montgomery County Police Reporter. 

The main church building was not affected by the fire, he said. 

Caney Creek, East Montgomery, North Montgomery, South Montgomery Needham and Porter firefighters responded to the area, according to a report from the Montgomery County Police Reporter.

Cleveland, Houston, and Spring responded as well, the report continues. 

The Montgomery County Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.Â
