McKinney-based Oxland Group has purchased 1,860 acres in Montgomery County and will bring 4,000 homes into a new, yet-to-be-named master-planned community.

“We are thrilled to be leading the development of this beautiful property,” Tom Woliver, co-president of Oxland Group said in a news release. “This will be Oxland’s flagship community and we want it to reflect Montgomery County’s heritage and support its future growth.”

According to information from Oxland Group, the development will be north of FM 1488 and west of Fish Creek Thoroughfare.

Oxland officials called the land a “proverbial hole in the donut” as development has historically passed this area and moved further out due to a lack of infrastructure. However, Oxland plans to construct a new bridge and east-west roadway so residents will more easily connect to The Woodlands, Magnolia, and Conroe for employment, entertainment, shopping, schools and hospitals.

“With this new east-west road, it will take up to 30 miles off bus routes for Montgomery ISD. That is the same for emergency vehicles, which is one of the biggest safety factors,” said Montgomery County Commissioner Charlie Riley. “The development Oxland will deliver will fulfill the growing need for a variety of housing options for all residents of Montgomery County.”
