College Park 34, New Caney 27

Cole Snodgrass snagged a 10-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Rodrigo Bravo with 16 seconds left as the Cavaliers kept their playoff hopes alive and snapped a three-game losing streak with a 34-27 win over New Caney Friday night at Randall Reed Stadium.

The Cavaliers (4-5, 4-3) will face Conroe this Friday for the final playoff spot out of District 13-6A.

New Caney (4-5, 2-5) was officially eliminated from playoff contention with the loss. The Eagles tied College Park at 27-all with 1:12 left in the game as quarterback Hunter Taylor scored his third rushing touchdown of the night.

After a 10-7 New Caney lead at halftime, the second half featured three lead changes and a tie.

Conner Dunphy had touchdown receptions of 9 and 63 yards from Bravo, who totaled three touchdown passes on the night. Brayden Lee-Denton had two short touchdown runs.

Joel Rodriguez booted field goals of 22 and 27 yards, respectively, for New Caney.

College Park’s Week 11 game is 7 p.m. at Woodforest Bank Stadium.

New Caney, which missed the playoffs for the first time since 2014, travels to Moorhead Stadium to play Caney Creek this Friday at 7 p.m.

Conroe 77, Cleveland 7

The Conroe Tigers scored the most points in 87 years Friday night as they thrashed Cleveland 77-7 at Moorhead Stadium to keep playoff hopes alive in District 13-6A.

Conroe (5-4, 3-4) has won two straight games. This Friday’s 7 p.m. contest against College Park at Woodforest Bank Stadium will decide the final playoff spot in the district.

Over the first 24 minutes, Dramecko Green ran in three touchdowns while Christian Nunley threw touchdown passes to Jalen Mayon, Nigel Leday and Bryson Champagne. 

In the second half, Cameron Nunley came on at quarterback and threw a 24-yard touchdown to Zackary Allen and a 77-yard touchdown to Keegan O’Dell.

Reinaldo Strukien blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown.

Cameron Menifee capped the night with a 20-yard touchdown.

Devondre McGee, Marc Jones and Tice Williams each had interceptions in the first half.

According to records maintained by The Courier, Conroe scored 84 points in a game against Normangee in 1936. The Tigers also had a 107-point game in 1929 against Hempstead.

Conroe’s more modern high scoring game was 73 points against Aldine in 2014.

Conroe led 56-0 at halftime.

Cleveland (0-9, 0-7) ends the year this Friday at home against Grand Oaks.

Oak Ridge 56, Caney Creek 0

Oak Ridge relied on its running game for seven touchdowns Friday night in a 56-0 shutout of Caney Creek at Woodforest Bank Stadium.

Oak Ridge (7-2, 6-1) has won five straight and already clinched a playoff spot in District 13-6A last week. It was the War Eagles’ second consecutive shutout against Caney Creek (3-6, 1-6).

Larry DeBose had three short first-half touchdown runs. Frankie Arthur had touchdown runs of 29 and 76 yards, respectively. Justin Hayes and Jace Fussell both had 6-yard touchdown runs in the second half.

James Scott caught a 48-yard touchdown from quarterback Adam Trosclair in the second quarter.

Oak Ridge wraps up the regular season at Willis Friday night at  7 p.m.

Caney Creek concludes its season at Moorhead Stadium against New Caney at the same time.

Magnolia 13, Foster 12

Magnolia scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to take down Foster 13-12 to conclude the regular season Friday night.

Magnolia (8-2, 7-1), which missed the playoffs last year, solidified second place in District 10-5A Division I with the win. It’s Magnolia’s best regular season since 2020.

The Bulldogs await their bi-district opponent after Week 11.

Porter 31, Baytown Lee 24

Porter fended off a strong home effort by Baytown Lee for a 31-24 District 8-5A Division I win Thursday night at Stallworth Stadium.

Porter (6-3, 5-2) clinched its first playoff spot since 2019 and fifth all-time with the win.

The Spartans are now a full game up on fifth place Kingwood Park, who they defeated earlier this season.

Quarterback Payton Evans-Pickens ran in two touchdowns – one in each half – and then threw a 62-yarder to Aaron Gilliam in the third quarter after the Ganders (3-6, 2-5) led 10-7 at halftime.

Vincent Casalderry made it 24-10 Spartans on a 29-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

Lee pulled within a touchdown on a 68-yard pass by Levay Duncan to Kylan Williams.

Porter responded with a 30-yard touchdown pass from Evans-Pickens to Darville Allen.

The Ganders added a late touchdown – Duncan to Josiah Joseph for 4 yards.

Duncan had a second quarter touchdown pass to Elijah Brown in the second quarter and Andres Guzman blasted a 50-yard field goal to give Lee the three-point lead at halftime.

Evans-Pickens totaled 116 passing yards and 119 rushing yards. 

Ryan Gilliam had an interception and 11 tackles. Cameron Simms forced a fumble and Aaron Aguirre recovered it.

Porter hosts second place Barbers Hill next Friday at Randall Reed Stadium.

Lee wraps up the season against Sterling, next Friday at Stallworth Stadium.

Montgomery 52, Lamar Consolidated 20

Montgomery ran away to its first win of the season Thursday night, 52-20, at Lamar Consolidated in a District 10-5A Division II contest.

The Bears (1-8, 1-4) led by four touchdowns in the first half en route to a season-high in points.

Quarterback Reggie Williams threw four touchdown passes and rushed for another. Williams was 12-for-17 passing for 219 yards and rushed it nine times for 128 yards.

Talan Shavers had four receptions for 106 yards and touchdowns. Running back Damian Taylor also caught a touchdown pass, as did Adrian Scott and Brock Ruda. Backup quarterback Jack Merryman had one touchdown pass.

Jamarcus Nickerson recovered a fumble and scored a touchdown on the play.

The Bears wrap up the season this Friday night at MISD Stadium, 7:30 p.m. against Bryan Rudder.

Livingston 46, Splendora 14

Splendora fell 46-14 in District 10-4A Division I Friday night at Livingston.

The Wildcats (1-8, 0-4) have dropped eight straight games.

Splendora wraps up the regular season at home against Vidor, 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

Legacy Prep 17, Bay Area Christian 14

Legacy Prep snapped a two-game slide with a 17-14 win over Bay Area Christian in TAPPS Division III District 4.

The Lions (6-3, 1-1) are second place in the league standings and travel to Brentwood Christian this Friday at 7 p.m.

Pasadena First Baptist 68, Covenant Christian 20

In a battle of state-ranked TAPPS Division VI District 5 (6-man) teams, No. 4 Covenant Christian took its first loss of the season 68-20 to No. 2 Pasadena First Baptist Friday night.

The Cougars (8-1, 3-1) had three touchdown passes from quarterback Jackson Rudy, who totaled 207 yards through the air. Charlie Wade caught two touchdown passes while Colby VanBruane had one.

Covenant hosts Allen Academy in the regular season finale this Friday at 7 p.m.
