Montgomery County nonprofit Project Beacon’s Access Center in Oak Ridge North will soon see safety and accessibility upgrades after being selected as one of 100 nationwide recipients of a 2025 Lowe’s Hometowns grant, according to a July 28 news release.
What this means
The Beacon Access Center provides a sensory-friendly, neuro-inclusive space for adults with autism and other developmental disabilities, according to the release.
The Lowe’s Hometowns grant will support Phase 2 of the center’s improvements, including upgrades like water filtration, sensory calming spaces, tactile panels, electromechanical window shades and improved lighting. Durable flooring and outdoor enhancements will also be added.
