The Montgomery County Memorial Library System announced a slate of holiday events taking place between Dec. 2-31, according to a Nov. 19 news release. This list is not comprehensive, and events are subject to change.
Teen Ornament Making
Teens will have the opportunity to make holiday ornaments.
Teen Winter Watercolor
At the Meador Library, teens ages 13-17 are invited to create their own winter wonderland watercolor painting. Supplies are limited, and registration is required.
Family Holiday Trivia
Families are invited to test their Christmas trivia knowledge. Teams can range from two to six people, and this event is recommended for those age 6 and older. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Malcolm Purvis Library Open House
Malcolm Purvis Library in Magnolia is hosting a holiday open house that will feature Santa, holiday music and snacks.
Holiday Book Exchange
Attendees are invited to bring a wrapped book to the Central Library so they can participate in the library’s holiday book exchange. This event is for adults 18 and over, and registration is required.
‘Polar Express’-themed Pajama Hangout
The Central Library will host a “Polar Express”-themed hangout for children. Attendees are encouraged to wear pajamas and slippers and bring their favorite blankets, pillows and stuffed animals while they relax and read.
Kids’ Crafternoon: Grinch Tie Pillow
Kids ages 6-12 will have a chance to make a Grinch tie pillow. Registration is required and will open one week before the event.
Celebrate The Holidays Concert
The Mitchell Intermediate Orchestra is set to play a selection of holiday music, after which children can play common orchestral instruments during the instrument petting zoo. This event is ticketed, and tickets will be handed out in the library’s lobby. Between each session, there will be a hot chocolate bar and several holiday crafts.
‘How The Grinch Stole Christmas’ Movie
Children can come enjoy a screening of “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” at the Meador Library. Registration is required and will open one week before the event.
Teen DIY Ornaments
Teens ages 13-17 are invited to make DIY ornaments with supplies such as cardstock, glue and glitter. Supplies are limited, and registration is required.
Mitchell Library Holiday Open House
At the Mitchell Library’s open house, attendees can expect refreshments, live music, crafts and an appearance by Santa.
Grinchmas Ornament Workshop
Children are invited to make a Grinch-themed holiday ornament during this workshop at the Malcolm Purvis Library.
Storytimes with Santa
Santa will be hosting two storytimes for children at the Mitchell Library. All children must be supervised by an adult.
West Library Holiday Open House
Refreshments and pictures with Santa will be among the activities at West Library’s holiday open house event.
Kids’ Crafternoon: Mini Gingerbread House
Kids ages 6-12 are invited to come out to decorate a hot-glued mini gingerbread house. Registration is required and will open one week before the event.
Holiday Mocktails and Musical Chairs
Attendees are invited to come out to the Mitchell Library to enjoy winter-themed mocktails and a game of musical chairs. Attendees will also be provided with recipes to take home. This is an adult-only event, and registration is encouraged.
Tunes at Two
Holiday music will be playing in the Mitchell Library for attendees to enjoy.

Teens ages 12-18 are invited to the Central Library to make brightly colored pompom ornaments.
‘How The Children Stole Christmas’ Pajama Party & Craft
At the Malcolm Purvis Library, attendees are invited to enjoy a screening of “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” while donning their pajamas and making a Christmas craft.
Meador Library Open House
Meador Library’s open house event will feature activities such as face painting, crafts and holiday treats. There will also be a visit from Santa and a presentation from Back Stage Dance’s Nutcracker performers.
Teen Enchanted Forest Holiday Party
The South Library is hosting an Enchanted Forest Holiday Party for teens ages 13-17. This event will feature crafts, games, snacks and other activities. Costumes are encouraged but not required.
Noon Year’s Eve Party
The Mitchell Library’s Noon Year’s Eve Party will feature games, crafts and music, alongside a countdown to noon to help ring in the New Year. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
