It’s official. The holiday season is here and there are several events planned for the first week of the holidays.

Here are events planned to kick off the Christmas season in Montgomery County.

Conroe tree lighting 

The lighting of Conroe’s official Christmas tree will take place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Heritage Place Park at 500 Metcalf Street. The lighting ceremony will including musical acts leading up to the big moment. 

Then stick around in downtown Conroe for Christmas on Main immediately following the tree lighting. Christmas on Main is a collaboration between the City of Conroe and the Conroe Downtown Area Association to bring a family fun event to residents who are in downtown for the tree lighting. 

Music begins at 7 p.m. at Founder’s Plaza with Christmas jazz from Conroe’s Jazz Connection group. Holiday activities will be spread through Main, Simonton, and Metcalf streets. 

For the third year the world-famous Clydesdale horses, sponsored by Express Employment, will be in attendance and there will be a Christmas vendor market set up on Metcalf Street from Heritage Park up to Main Street.

Bethlehem City opens 

Since 2006, West Conroe Baptist Church has been creating a theatrical representation of Bethlehem and the timeline of the life of Jesus Christ every December. Visitors from near and far have traveled to the area to drive through the annual set up at the church featuring 22 scenes and around 150 cast members.

The drive-through presentation begins on Longmire Road and winds through the church parking lot with vehicles exiting onto Loop 336. The experience opens at 6:30 p.m. to the first 250 cars through each evening. Dates this year are Dec. 1-3 and Dec. 8-10.

Montgomery County Mistletoe Market 

Get a jump on Christmas shopping while supporting local small business owners. The holiday market is set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Lone Star Convention Center. There will be more than 230 vendors. There is a $5 cash entry. Teachers, military and first responders with ID and children have free entry.

Cedar Brake Park holiday lighting 

Light Up the Park is a Montgomery cherished holiday tradition. Cedar Brake Park at 21358 Eva Street also known as Texas 105 in Montgomery will be lit up for the season at 6 p.m. Dec. 2. There will be Santa photos, children can write letters to the North Pole, and special holiday music.

Hope for the Holidays 

The Cassidy Joined for Hope nonprofit is producing the holiday musical “Hope for the Holidays” set for 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 2 at College Park High School. The musical cast includes talent from around Montgomery County and proceeds will benefit the Cassidy Joined for Hope organization which addresses teen suicide.
