Below is a roundup of Montgomery County high school football games from the bi-district round. 

Willis 62, Nimitz 34

Willis’ historic season continued in the playoffs with a 62-34 home victory against Nimitz in a Region II-6A Division II bi-district matchup at Yates Stadium.

The No. 14 state-ranked Wildkats (11-0), who missed the playoffs last season, advanced to the area round for the first time since 2021 and sixth time in program history.

Quarterback DJ Lagway threw three touchdown passes and rushed for three more. He totaled 286 yards through the air and another 121 yards on the ground.

Jermaine Bishop Jr., Daylion Robinson and Imauree Holmes each had touchdown receptions. Bishop led the Wildkats with 90 receiving yards and also had an interception on defense. Robinson also had a rushing score.

Nimitz (8-3), which posted its highest win total since 2003, ended its season after making a third consecutive playoff appearance.

Willis will match up against Tomball Memorial (10-1) 7 p.m. Friday at Randall Reed Stadium. Tomball Memorial defeated Cypress Springs 30-29 on Friday.

Lake Creek 53, Nederland 6

Lake Creek fell behind early but held firm on its home turf in the bi-district round for the second straight year.

The No. 1 state-ranked Lions throttled visiting Nederland 53-6 in Region III-5A Division II action at Montgomery ISD Stadium.

Lake Creek (11-0) returns to the area round for the second straight year and second time in program history.

Nederland (4-6), playing its first playoff game in three years, lost four of five to end the season.

After falling behind 6-0, the Lions reeled off 40 unanswered points before halftime and 53 total.

Elijah Naziruddin caught two touchdown passes from quarterback Eli Morcos and rushed for another. Tyvonn Byars had two rushing scores. Alex Abbott made three field goals for the Lions.

Byars finished with 162 yards on 29 carries. Naziruddin had 14 carries for 73 yards and three receptions for 46 yards. Sam Lee made eight receptions for 58 yards. Morcos was 16-for-29 for 157 yards and also rushed for 30 yards.

Tyraun Pier recovered a fumble for a touchdown and Gerard Culotta forced two fumbles, made sacks and totaled eight tackles.

Lake Creek will face Austin Crockett, 7 p.m. Friday at Giddings’ Buffalo Stadium. Crockett pulled out a 14-13 victory against Waco University on Friday.

Magnolia West 68, Madison 0

Magnolia West took control early and never looked back en route to a 68-0 victory against Madison in a Region III-5A Division I matchup at Houston ISD’s Butler Stadium.

Magnolia West (7-4), the No. 3 seed from District 10, improved to 3-0 against Madison (6-5). The first two meetings came in the playoffs in 2014 and 2015.

It was a season-high in points for the Mustangs, who totaled seven touchdowns from the ground game. 

Carson Dunaway and John Sigler each ran for two scores. Terry Daniels, Cameron Ivy and Sam Gomez each hit the end zone once.

Quarterback Bryson Broadway was 9-for-14 for 246 yards and a touchdown throw to Brandon Taylor. Taylor led Magnolia West with four catches and 81 yards.

The Mustangs advance to the area round for the third straight year. Magnolia West will take on Smithson Valley (10-1) 7 p.m. Friday at Wildcat Stadium in Temple.

Magnolia 56, Houston Sterling 6

After missing the playoffs last season, Magnolia is headed to the second round after beating Houston Sterling 56-6 in a Region III-5A Division I bi-district matchup at home.

The Bulldogs (9-2), who finished 3-7 last season, picked up their first playoff win since 2020.

Running back Hunter Andrews totaled three rushing scores and 74 yards on 11 touches.

Quarterback Tanner Whittington was 7-for-11 for 166 yards and two scores. 

Magnolia, the runner-up from District 10, has won eight consecutive games since falling to Fulshear on Sept. 9. The Bulldogs’ only other loss came against Klein Collins in non-district.

Sterling (8-3) ended its season after reaching the playoffs for a fifth straight year.

Magnolia will travel to College Station (10-1) for a 7 p.m. kick Friday in the area round.

Westfield 58, Conroe 20

For the third straight year, Westfield and Conroe met at Planet Ford Stadium in the Region II-6A Division I bi-district round.

The Mustangs prevailed once again, earning a 58-20 victory to reach the area round for the 13th straight season.

Westfield (9-2) has won eight straight games. Conroe (6-5), which trailed by a touchdown at halftime, saw its three-game winning streak end.

Taji Atkins had five total touchdowns for Westfield, including four in the second half after Westfield held a 24-17 lead at the break.

Austin Abram caught two touchdown passes from quarterback Miles Dent in the first quarter. Ashton Steen added a late touchdown run for the Mustangs, and Jonathan Dimas made a 42-yard field goal in the first half.

For Conroe, Dramekco Green had two short touchdown runs in the first half. Arjit Singh made a field goal in each half.

The Mustangs will face Klein Cain (8-3) next week. Klein Cain beat Bridgeland 50-49 on Friday.

Longview 59, Porter 7

Porter’s first postseason game since 2019 didn’t go to plan Friday night as the Spartans fell 59-7 at No. 2 Longview Friday night in a Region II-5A Division I bi-district game.

Porter (7-4) went on a three-game winning streak to push for the final playoff spot out of District 8-5A Division I. The Spartans’ record was their best season since 2019 when they went 9-3. It was the fifth playoff appearance ever for Porter.

Aaron Gilliam scored the lone touchdown off a pass from Payton Evans-Pickens.

Longview (10-1) is matched up with Frisco Reedy in the area round.

Conroe Covenant 68, San Marcos Academy 20

The Conroe Covenant Cougars kicked off the TAPPS Division II (6-man) playoffs with a resounding 68-20 win over San Marcos Academy Friday night.

Jackson Rudy threw seven touchdown passes and rushed for two more for Covenant (10-1). He totaled 278 passing yards and rushed fro 155.

Colby VanBruane had 110 yards and five touchdown receptions. Charlie Ward and Nate Eichenhorst each had one touchdown reception.

The Cougars will face Waco Live Oak Classical in the regional round this coming week.

Austin Regents 45, TWCA 7

The Woodlands Christian Academy’s season ended in the TAPPS Division II area playoffs, 45-7, Friday night.

The Warriors conclude the year 3-8.
