During its Feb. 25 meeting, Montgomery City Council voted to cancel its May 3 election for unopposed races.
What you need to know
City Council places 1, 3 and 5 are unopposed for the May 3 general election, and the city will no longer have an election.
According to the agenda, the positions will be filled by:
- City Council Place 1: Carol Langley
- City Council Place 3: Thomas Czulewicz
- City Council Place 5: Stan Donaldson

The vacancy currently in Place 3 will officially be filled in May.
Montgomery City Council member positions and mayoral positions are two-year terms, according to the city’s website. A proposition to extend City Council term limits from two to four years failed last November by 56%, according to prior reporting.
